GoldFlower Just Killed the Discount Game. Will Anyone Else Follow?

GoldFlower Florida is dropping loyalty math on Aug 17 for everyday menu prices and a $20–$60 first-visit credit. We break down the new setup and ask if other dispos will follow.

Monday, August 17, GoldFlower is doing something Florida patients have been begging for and also kind of dreading: they're taking the calculator away.

No more inflated MSRP so a 60% off sticker looks heroic. No more veteran/senior/birthday percent stack that only works if you remember the right day and the right ID. Their own words, from the official manifesto: the price is the price. Fair everyday numbers. Same online and in every store.

We already updated our GoldFlower page and the first-time deals board so they match the new setup. Now we want the group chat question, because this one is going to start arguments.

If GoldFlower can post real prices and walk away from loyalty theater, do the rest of you think Jungle Boys, The Flowery, Trulieve, Sunburn, Cookies, and the big chains will follow? Or is Florida too addicted to the deal carousel?

What actually changes on August 17

This is not a rumor screenshot. GoldFlower published it. Effective Monday:

  • Everyday menu prices replace the old “was $80, now 50% off” routine.
  • No single packaged medical product over $40, except multi-unit stuff like bundles, buckets, and multi-gram vapes.
  • They say current everyday prices will not go up for at least 12 months. They can drop for a sale. They will not creep back up next Tuesday.
  • Same price online and at every GoldFlower in Florida.
  • Loyalty and standing percent-off programs (vet, senior, SNAP, student, industry, birthday, renewal) retire with the old system.

The menu ranges they put in writing: flower eighths $18–$35. Pre-rolls $5. Concentrates $26–$35. 1 gram vapes $25. Chews $10–$15.

That is the whole point. You should be able to walk in on a random Wednesday and not feel like you got played because you missed Monday's email.

The new first-time deal is a credit, not 60% off three visits

Old GoldFlower first-time math was the kind of number that made our first-time page look spicy: 60% off the first three orders. That's gone.

New patients get a first-purchase credit based on what they actually spend:

  • Under $100: $20 off
  • $101.$200: $30 off
  • $201.$300: $40 off
  • $301.$400: $50 off
  • Over $400: $60 off

If you still have unused first-time percent discounts sitting in an account, they say those convert to $5-off codes on the 17th. One a day. They don't expire. Existing loyalty points stay too: redeem in $5 chunks, max $10 a day, or dump them all at once on apparel and accessories in store.

Is $60 off a $400 ticket as loud as 60% off three visits? No. It's also not a fake $90 eighth marked down to $35 so the poster looks like a fireworks show. Different game.

Why this hits different in Florida

Florida MMJ shopping turned into a second job. Daily emails. “Today only.” Exclusions in 8-point type. First-time percentages that only apply if you haven't bought a pre-roll in 2019. Patients comparing notes like day traders.

GoldFlower admits they played that game too. Then they said patients were tired of it. Fair. We see the same thing every week on CannaDeals: people don't hate deals. They hate finding out Tuesday that Monday's eighth is suddenly half off.

Transparent pricing is boring in the best way. You can plan a rec. You can compare an $18 eighth to a $35 eighth without needing a spreadsheet. You can stop treating your medical card like a coupon binder.

The other side is real too. A lot of patients time their first three visits around 50.60% off. Veterans and seniors built shopping habits around standing percents. If those go away and the “everyday” number is still premium, people will say the manifesto is just a prettier way to charge more. That's a fair test. The menu has to stay honest after the press release.

So… will anyone else do this?

This is the part we actually want in the comments, Discord, and group chat.

GoldFlower is mid-size and growing. They can move a whole brand to one price list. Trulieve cannot blink without 100 stores feeling it. The Flowery and Jungle Boys sell identity as much as flower. Cookies runs on drops. Sunburn already plays the “we grow it, we price it” card. None of those brands have posted a matching “the price is the price” letter.

If one more shop copies this, the whole Florida deal economy gets weird in a good way. If nobody copies it, GoldFlower either looks brave or isolated, depending on whether patients keep showing up when the 60% banners disappear.

Our honest read: someone will test a cleaner first-time credit. Almost nobody will kill veteran and birthday percents in the same week unless the everyday shelf is cheaper than the old stacked math. Patients can do that homework in about two visits.

Tell us what you think.

  • Would you rather have a real $25 gram vape every day, or a $40 vape that's “50% off” when the email hits?
  • If you are a vet or senior, is losing the standing 15% a dealbreaker even with lower sticker prices?
  • Which brand do you actually expect to copy this first? Don't say “all of them.” Pick one and say why.

Drop it under the post, hit us in Discord, or argue it in the group. We will keep the GoldFlower deals page honest as the new menu lands, and the rest of the live board stays the place you check whether anyone else blinked.

What to do if you shop GoldFlower

If you still have unused first-time percent visits or a pile of points, use them or let them convert. Don't assume the old 60% still works after Sunday night.

If you are a brand-new GoldFlower patient after the 17th, plan the first ticket around the credit tiers. A $95 cart run and a $105 cart run are not the same first visit anymore.

And if you are shopping this weekend before the switch, treat current flyers as current flyers. The manifesto is the standing program after Monday. Daily menu specials can still happen. They just promised those specials will be real cuts from the everyday number, not theater.

CannaDealsFL is not GoldFlower. We don't get a cut for saying this. We track Florida medical deals, and this is the biggest standing-program rewrite we have had to put on the site in a while. If another dispensary posts a matching “no games” letter, send it. We will update the board the same day.
